Amber & Larry came all the way from Kansas City to get married in Yosemite National Park! This day was a little unusual for us because we are usually photographers and/or photographers & videographers. But Amber had a close friend back home that was an amazing photographer and wanted to gift them her photos as a wedding gift. So Amber & Larry asked if we would be their Yosemite videographers and we said yes! And so today I’m super excited to share this story and this Yosemite wedding video with you guys!
Full-Day Elopement – from sunrise to sunset
After a couple of emails and phone calls, these two decided to go all out and book our sunrise + sunset package!
It was fall, the perfect time in Yosemite, so we had to! We had all the time in the world to take them to all of the amazing spots in this place!
We started at sunrise with a first look, followed by just strolling around Yosemite Valley throughout the morning. At about 9:00 am or so, we met everyone for the ceremony, and it was a beautiful one. Nobody else was around besides them and their guests.
Fun fact – they were originally supposed to get married at Glacier Point at sunrise, but their ceremony arch was not allowed up there. So we got in touch with the Park and got the approval to relocate to this particular location. This change of plans made a lot more sense since we were heading up Glacier Point Rd later in the day anyway. We were all happy and grateful that Yosemite was working with them to make their ideas happen!
** this is a reminder to always check with the Park if what you’re doing is allowed.
After the ceremony, we all took a much-needed nap. So we rested and met up again in the afternoon for the rest of this epic day!
My strongest memory from this day is all of us, hiking together, and just laughing at the dumbest things. We were all tired and suffering from a lack of sleep. I remember my cheeks were hurting from laughing by the time we got back to the parking lot!
Amber & Larry didn’t settle for anything less than what they wanted. I’m so happy we got to create this Yosemite wedding video for them! Check out their full video below!

Getting married in Yosemite in 2022?
There are a couple of things you need to know!
- Glacier Point Road will not open this year. Yosemite is doing some major repairs on the road, so this road will open again in late spring/summer of 2023. The only way to get to certain locations will be by hiking from the Valley. Yosemite Valley is open all year round though, and it’s beautiful and full of epic locations.
- The reservation system is back! For the past 2 years, Yosemite has implemented a reservation system to control the crowds. In 2022, from May 20th to September 30th, reservations will be required from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Wedding permits WILL COUNT as reservations! Everyone in the wedding needs to carry a coopy of the permit with them. Please visit this page for everything you need to know about the reservation system!
