I’m not going to lie. We were all hoping for a little more snow in the valley in January. But, since no one can control the weather, we for sure made the most out of this Yosemite engagement session!
Isabel & Sentry are two adventurous souls. They live in a camper van, love to rock climb and hike, and are two of the most chill people we’ve ever met. They were also champs when it came to taking pictures in below 40 degrees weather (yes, that is very cold in California).
Every winter, Yosemite National Parks closes the Glacier Point Road, as soon as the first snowfall happens. That means that, from the end of November until about March (it changes every year), there is no way of getting to the two iconic photo spots, Taft and Glacier Point. But that’s not to say you shouldn’t have your engagement photos done during that period.
The Yosemite Valley is full of beautiful locations that make the perfect background for pictures! El Capitan, Three Brothers mountain, Tunnel View, the list goes on! And the craziest thing is that these spots are all a short walk away from the parking spots. And besides all the iconic landmarks, the park is filled with little corners and hidden spots that we love to explore, there is definitely no shortage of photo options.
Even though Isabel and Sentry had both been to Yosemite several times, they said they had never been to any of the spots we took them. And you know what’s the best part about this time of the year? You basically have the park to yourself. It’s hard to beat that.
It was such a pleasure getting to spend the afternoon with them and their sweet dog Fitz! And if you’re wondering if your dog should be part of your engagement photos… my answer will always be YES!
