Abigail is a big hiker. She loves the outdoors and has climbed Half Dome twice! Jonathan, not so much. His first hike with her was a 15-mile hike to the top of Clouds Rest, at Yosemite National Park, and that’s where he had planned to propose to her. He made it through the long hike and definitely deserved a big yes! When they started looking for photographers they wanted to have a sunset engagement session that represented that story. They came across pictures from another engagement session we had done at Taft Point and they had no doubt! It had to be there.
We were really excited when Jonathan reached out to us because this is one of our favorite places in the park! And even better, they had never been there before. We loved seeing their faces when the hiking path ended and they saw where they were standing and the kind of views they were getting to witness. And that’s the crazy thing about Taft Point, you only have to walk for 1.1 miles and you’re there, looking at one of the craziest landscapes ever!
If the day wasn’t already great, then nature decided to give us a show. You see, as photographers, we’re always hoping for an epic sunrise or sunset, but we also know we can’t control the weather, so all we can do is make the most out of whatever situation is presented to us. But this situation was beyond ideal… as the sun went down, the sky and the clouds started to turn pink and purple. It was one of the most gorgeous sunsets we’ve ever witnessed.
Enough of me talking, because you should probably just scroll down and see it for yourself! 😉
