Yosemite is a special place to many of our couples, for many different reasons. But to Megan & Michael, Yosemite played a huge role in their relationship. They spent 4 years doing lots of climbing and hiking throughout the Park, and couldn’t see themselves getting married anywhere else. There were a lot of logistics that went into planning this rock climbing elopement, and as you’ll see in this post, it was all worth it.
We started the day bright and early at 6:00 am. They wanted to do a private first look before the ceremony. Right from the beginning, they couldn’t stop laughing with each other, and you could tell they were just so happy. The Park felt empty and we got some amazing shots with them before their families arrived!
Their ceremony was fun, light, and just so meaningful. Perfect. And we even had an epic surprise! Hang gliders jumping off Glacier Point flying in the background. Does it get much better than that?
After the ceremony, the 4 of us and their good friend went into the Valley to begin the next part of this rock climbing elopement! Although it was super chilly in the morning, it got considerably hot by the time we got down to the Valley! Hiking toward El Cap was harder than we all thought, but again, all worth it.
Their friend got us in line while another couple climbed, and we just sat there waiting and enjoying the view and the breeze. Honestly, it was one of those moments where we were like “How is this our job”?
They found us the perfect ledge to hang out and shoot while they did their thing.
The whole thing was mesmerizing to watch. Megan wasn’t sure how climbing in a dress would feel, or if it would even work, but she killed it.
This rock-climbing elopement was also featured in SF Gate!
