Standing at over 7,200 feet, Glacier Point in Yosemite is a site guaranteed to give you a wedding that’s nothing short of epic. With both wedding and elopement options available, this is a perfect fit for everyone with a deep sense of adventure in their souls. As Yosemite elopement and intimate wedding photographers, we get the chance to explore all of our favorite spots across the park. Here’s what makes a Glacier Point wedding so special!

Mariposa County, California
We don’t know if the views get better for a wedding than what you’ll get at Glacier Point. With this spot, you will be able to look out and see famous sites like Yosemite Valley, Vernal and Nevada Falls, and of course, Half Dome. And while the views are definitely commanding, it’s surprisingly easy to access. There is a parking lot right outside of it with a wheelchair-accessible trail leading up to the spot. When you choose this location, no one has to miss out!

As with any place in Yosemite, we always recommend booking a cabin throughout your wedding weekend. The area surrounding this part of the park gives you plenty of options, so you can find the one that matches your style. You can then spend your day with your closest friends and family as you get ready for your wedding or elopement.
Glacier Point itself is able to host up to 50 guests. If you have more than 11 people, you will use the Glacier Point Amphitheater for your ceremony. This flat spot puts you on the edge of the lookout with a few trees and bushes just behind you. Your guests will have a stone step where they can sit and watch the entire thing.
If you are hosting an elopement with fewer than 11 guests, you will be able to host your wedding anywhere in Glacier Point beyond just the Amphitheater, giving you total freedom to ditch the crowds.
If you do want a reception, the park has a few restaurants within driving distance where you can rent out a room and party with your guests. There are also a couple of wedding venues near Yosemite, and for that, you can check out some options here!

With Glacier Point, you are going to have endless wedding portrait opportunities from the scenic trail leading to the park to the soaring amphitheater. This spot has one of our favorite views of the famous Half Dome (I even have a tattoo on my arm from this view)! Be sure to grab comfy shoes and spend some time exploring afterward. Your wedding pictures are going to be positively legendary!

In order to plan a wedding at Glacier Point, you will need to apply for a permit through the National Park Service. They make this easy, giving you everything on their website. We will also help you out with this part, and everything else we can!
You can apply for this special use permit up to one year ahead of time. Also, be aware that you cannot restrict other people from accessing this site during your wedding. Potential onlookers are just a part of a National Park wedding. The best way to maintain some privacy is planning a sunrise or early morning wedding. It’s worth the early wake-up call, I promise!

If you are looking for a wedding or elopement spot where you can get the best views of Yosemite, a Glacier Point wedding is for you! With this spot, you are in for the celebration of your dreams!
Now that you have your spot, it’s time to find your photographer! As Yosemite elopement and intimate wedding photographers, we love working with couples to make sure they can remember every second of their day. We would love to chat and tell you all about our style so you can decide if we’re a match. Hope to chat soon!
