Lillaskog Lodge is a place made for those who love adventure! Located just 11 miles outside of Yosemite’s Big Oak Flat entrance, this spot is going to give you breathtaking views you’ll enjoy throughout every second of your wedding day. As Yosemite elopement photographers, we get the chance to go behind the scenes of some of the best venues out there. Here’s what you can expect from a Lillaskog Lodge wedding!

27557 Packard Canyon Rd, Groveland, California 95321
After a forest fire ravaged Groveland in 1999, people in the town started looking at ways to rebuild. Bill Charlson, a former park ranger and administrator, had his own ideas. He purchased some acres, logged the land to salvage it, and replanted over 20,000 baby trees. He gave it the name Lillaskog, a term meaning “Little Forest” in Swedish. The property was bought by a new family in 2021 and was transformed into a wedding venue. They now host over 25 weddings a year, bringing the same level of care to each!
When you choose Lillaskog Lodge for your wedding, you will be able to rent out the cabin for at least two nights. Not only will this give you the perfect spot to crash throughout the weekend, but you will also have a space to get ready ahead of your ceremony.
This venue is completely customizable, giving you the chance to host your wedding wherever you’d like! The lower lawn is always a favorite, giving you a gazebo where you can exchange your vows with the mountains just beyond your altar. Once you’ve finished with your I dos, your guests can head up to the upper lawn, where they can enjoy cocktails on the wraparound porch of the cabin. This yard space is ideal for receptions, giving you a cobblestoned pad where you can celebrate amidst the breathtaking views of Yosemite. Lillaskog can hold up to 150 guests.
Lillaskog Lodge is going to provide you with so many fantastic spots for your wedding pics! Once you are done getting ready for the ceremony, you can head to the wraparound porch for pics overlooking the mountains. Following your ceremony, you can wander around the property with your brand new spouse, taking pics amidst the surrounding forest.
The property is also very close to one of Yosemite’s entrances. For Cassady & Chris’s wedding day (the gallery you’ll see below), we drove to Yosemite at the end of the day for some portraits, and it was 100% worth it. The Park was gorgeous after a record-breaking snowy winter – the waterfalls were as big as they get! So don’t forget to budget in some time in your day for Yosemite!
The team behind Lillaskog Lodge knows how to help you have your dream day! They have extremely flexible wedding packages that let you customize your day. While they do have a list of preferred vendors, they will let you bring in your team for catering. They will provide you with individual support throughout the planning process and on-call help during your wedding. The lodge itself can sleep up to 18 guests, making it an amazing option for staying with your wedding party. PS, Lillaskog is pet-friendly!
