In today’s world, everything happens behind the screen. You can shop, do your groceries, make bank transactions, and read the news all online. Your pictures are no different. The digital era gave professional photographers so many amazing possibilities, like the ability to take an unlimited amount of pictures, to be more creative, to explore editing styles, and the list goes on. While all of this is amazing, people seem to forget how important it is to print their pictures, to make sure they don’t simply stay behind a screen. Well, I’m here to give you 5 reasons why you should print your photos!
1. It Feels Different
There is nothing like seeing your pictures coming to life and becoming prints. There is a whole other meaning to it. Don’t get me wrong, looking through your wedding online gallery is awesome! Posting them on social media platforms is too! BUT, there is nothing like seeing the story of your wedding day being told through prints or through a photo album. Flipping the pages feels completely different than scrolling, it brings you back all the memories and feelings from that day!
2. It Brings People Together
Maybe it was the way I grew up because even when everything went digital, my mom always made a point to print photos and make albums from our family trips. And then you know what we would do? We would gather everyone when the album was ready and look through it, and it was always so much fun! We would spend two hours talking about the trip, laughing, remembering it.
Again, don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that today we can simply share a link to our family members and they’re able to look through our whole wedding gallery! That came in handy for me when my whole family was in Brazil and I wanted them to see the pictures. But there is nothing like having your family over, showing them your wedding album, and talking about that day!
3. It’s a Great Way to Decorate Your Home
As obvious as this sounds, having your pictures on your walls makes your house feel like a home. They tell stories and remind you daily of important and happy moments in your life! Stephan and I keep one of our favorite pictures from our wedding day above our computer. It reminds us that we love each other even though editing can get hard sometimes and we might want to kill each other for a moment lol.
4. It Eternalizes Your Pictures
Everyone saves and keeps their pictures differently. Since we are photographers and we’re all psycho about technical problems, we back up our images in 3 to 5 different places. But normal people usually don’t do that. Some people keep them on the Cloud, some keep them in one hard drive. But let’s say one day your hard drive decides to break down, or that 20, 30 years later, you have no idea where that hard drive with your wedding pictures is. Well, if you took the time to make an album after your wedding, or had your photographer designing one for you, your favorite pictures for sure won’t be lost! And even better, they’ll be tangible! Let’s admit it, it’s much easier to lose a little black hard drive or (even smaller) a USB Drive than a big Wedding Album.
5. It’s Just Worth It
Maybe that’s just me, but I love seeing our pictures come to life, I really do. I’m also that person that still can’t read books on Kindles or Tablets, and I still use a notebook planner to schedule our days, instead of my phone calendar. I love technology in some ways, but there are certain things that are never going to change for me. I’ll always gasp a little more seeing a beautiful printed image than looking at a screen.
For every client, we offer the option of purchasing prints directly through your private photo gallery. We also offer album designing options for engagement sessions and weddings, it’s one of my favorite parts! To be able to design an album telling a story of such an important day! We use Miller’s Lab for printing and album designing services because we absolutely love their products.
